Meet Roslyn, a vibrant six-year-old whose laughter fills the room and whose hugs make every moment brighter. She adores playing with Barbies and Legos, enjoying time with her sister and cousins, and splashing about at our local aquatic center. Her quiet nature is complemented by a remarkable love for math, and her warm heart offers constant affection to her mom and dad. To those who know her, she’s a sweet little girl, but behind that gentle demeanor lies a formidable spirit battling an unseen challenge: juvenile arthritis.
At just 18 months old, Roslyn was diagnosed with oligoarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis. This chronic autoimmune disease has brought pain, swelling, and stiffness to her once-active knees and ankles. Thanks to biologic injections that help manage her condition, she has been able to maintain her joint health. Yet, these powerful medications come with a cost; they can weaken her immune system and have even led to psoriasis, manifesting as itchy and painful patches on her skin.
Despite these obstacles, Roslyn shines with a quiet resilience. Each day, she approaches her challenges with courage, embracing all the joys of childhood with an unwavering spirit. Whether she’s building intricate Lego structures or playing make-believe with her favorite Barbies, Roslyn exemplifies strength and bravery. Her condition may present barriers, but it does not define her. Instead, it has nurtured a sense of empathy, fortitude, and kindness that makes her an extraordinary person.
As her family, we are inspired by Roslyn every single day. To raise awareness for juvenile arthritis and to support those who live with this condition, we are excited to participate in the **2025 Kansas City Jingle Bell Run**. This event is not just about raising funds; it's about shedding light on the millions of Americans silently bearing the weight of chronic illnesses, including juvenile arthritis. Together, we can create a community of support and understanding for these individuals, advocating for better treatments and a brighter future.
While Roslyn may not fully grasp the impact of her journey yet, we see her for what she truly is: a remarkable arthritis champion. She embodies the strength to keep moving forward, constantly finding joy even in the face of adversity. We invite you to join us in celebrating her spirit and in raising awareness for juvenile arthritis – because every child deserves to play, dream, and thrive, regardless of their challenges.
Join us in our mission, and let's change the narrative together!
Together, let’s make a difference and champion those who inspire us to be brave, just like Roslyn!
